ABSTRACT

Objective To study the effects of modified Sanxiang Decoction on gastrointestinal transmission function of patients with functional bloating (FB). Methods Sixty cases of FB patients were randomly divided into treatment group (40 cases) and control group (20 cases). Treatment group was given modified Sanxiang Decoction, while control group was given placebo granules, one bag each time. Twice a day, taking it after mixing it with water. Gastrointestinal symptoms, 48 h GITT, and adverse reactions were recorded. Results There was statistical significance in TCM symptom scores between before and after treatment in the two groups (P<0.05). After treatment, the total score of abdominal distension, belching, anorexia and TCM symptoms of the treatment group were lower than the control group, with statistical significance (P=0.000, 0.000, 0.010, 0.003). The total effective rate was 82%(33/40) in the treatment group, 30%(6/20) in thecontrol group;the treatment group was better than the control group (P<0.05). A total of 30 patients completed gastrointestinal transit test, of which delayed 48 h GITT pass rate accounted for 54% (16/30). Compared with the control group, the 48 h GITT of the treatment group was more obviously improved than that of the control group with statistical significance (P=0.002). There were no significant adverse reactions in both groups. Conclusion Most of FB patients have the problem of abnormal intestinal motility. Modified Sanxiang Decoction can improve the symptoms of patients with FB, promote gastrointestinal motility, and improve intestinal transmission function.

ABSTRACT

Purpose To discuss the clinical, histopathological characteristics, diagnosis, differential diagnosis and prognosis of hydroa vacciniforme-like lymphoproliferative disorder in children. Methods 6 cases of hydroa vacciniforme-like lymphoproliferative disorder were analyzed by molecular, histopathological and immunohistochemical testing.Clinical and follow-up information was obtained. The published relevant literatures were reviewed. Results 4 cases were boys,2 case were girls. All the patients presented with erythema and blisters with fever for 1 month to 4 years.Histopathologic examination showed an mild or moderate atypical lymphocytic infiltrate with angiotropism and angiocentricity, and scattered or dense lymphoid infiltration throughout the dermis and subcutaneous tissue.Blisters or necrosis could be seen in the epidermis. The atypical lymphocytes were positive for CD2,CD3,CDS,CD7,CD43,TIA-1,CD4 or CD8,and negative for CD20,Pax-5.Only one case showed positive stain for CD56.The average positive rate of Ki67 in tumor cells was 42.3%.Tumor cells positive for EBV encoded RNA (EBER) were detected in cutaneous infiltrates in 5 cases.Gene rearrangement of TCR was detected in 2 cases.5 patients were available for follow-up examination and 1 patient was dead. Conclusion Hydroa vacciniforme-like lymphoproliferative disorder is a rare disease mainly occuring in children.Chronic active EBV infection has been associated with this disease. It may be a spectrum in terms of its clinical course, and may be benign, borderline and malignant.Pathological diagnosis should be closely combined with clinical data.

ABSTRACT

Senior citizens have many diseases related to blood stasis, which was often overlooked by clinicians, and thus affected the treatment of the disease. Through analyzing and summarizing of related literature in recent five years of senile constipation treated from blood stasis, we found that the blood stasis is closely linked to senile constipation. Blood stasis in the gut forms constipation, and constipation with the passing of time forms blood stasis in returen. Blood stasis and constipation often influence each other.

ABSTRACT

【Objective】To investigate the therapeutic effect of Turbidity-resolving and Stasis-removing Prescription(TSP) for the treatment of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NFLD).【Methods】One hundred and thirteen NFLD patients were randomized into groups A and B according to their consulting order.Group A(N=61) received oral use of TSP 100 mL,bid, and group B(N=52) received oral use of ursodesoxycholic acid(UDCA) 150 mg,tid. The treatment lasted 2 months.【Results】The total effective rate was 85.2% in group A,superior to 51.9% in group B (P

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the impact of multiple factors on the incidence of pneumothorax associated with CT-guided transthoracic needle aspiration biopsy. Methods The sign of pneumothorax after 162 cases(lesion diameter from 1cm to 6cm)CT-guided transthoracic needle aspiration biopsy was observed and its relationship with multivariate factors were analyzed by multivariate logistic regression model. Results Thirty-two cases presented pneumothorax accounting for 19.8%.Single variate analysis showed that the sign of pneumothorax ralated to intercurrent COPD,distance from lesion and chest wall, needle dwelling time and lesion diameter.67 patients of intercurrent COPD with postoperative pneumothorax occurred in 22 cases (32.8%);With respect to those having lesions close to the chest wall(48 cases),and the cases with the distance between the chest wall and lesions less than 2cm(55 cases)and greater than 2cm(59 cases), the postoperative pneumothorax occurred in 0,14(25.5%),18(30.5%)cases respectively; For those patients with needle in the chest residence time of less than 10 minutes(82 cases),10—20 minutes (51 cases),more than 20 minutes(28 cases)after the occurrence of pneumothorax were 8(9.6%), 10(19.6%),14(50%)cases respectively; In contrast, those with lesion diameter less than 2 cm (65 cases),2—4cm(52 cases),more than 4cm(45 cases)were 19(29.2%),8(15.4%) and 5(11.1%)respectively.The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the prior three factors were risk factors of pneumothorax(OR=4.652,4.030,2.855 respectively). Conclusions To avoid the pneumothorax, caution must be taken with respect to CT-guided transthoracic needle aspiration biopsy, patients with intercurrent COPD,long distance between lesion and chest wall, and smaller lesion diameter. For operation the needle dwell time within thorax should be minimized.
